As a leader, your ability to be effective is recommended. Constantly performing can be challenging and you will have to encounter many obstacles along the way. Some of these obstacles may be obvious, others not. So what are 5 obstacles to your success as a leader?
Obstacle 1: no obvious sight
As a leader you must be able to clearly show your vision and then sell it to others. This requires that you define what performance means for your organization, team or activity and why it matters. If you have no clear vision, it's getting pretty hard to catch anything.
Obstacle 2: Lack of Faith
It is not used to have a clear vision and can explain it to others unless you believe it can be achieved. Gone are days when you could come up with a beautiful word and hope nobody will see through their doubts. Your faith is a fuel that drives the organization, especially with these challenging and difficult times.
Obstacle 3: Lack of Objectives
Objectives or Consequences show a clear destination. When you focus on goals, you are driving. When driving, you focus on results and when you emphasize the results you get more. The results provide strengthening and incentives to aim for better and better results.
Hindrun 4: Resting on your laurels
You may be doing very well at this time but resting on your lows is dangerous. As a leader, you need to be constantly preventative, expect the need for change and stay ahead of the game whenever you can. If you want to succeed, do not take off the gas.
Hindrun 5: Fear
Everyone has fear. It may be fear that something will not work, the request for funding will be rejected or a major reversal will not occur. At the root of all this is fear of failure. If you fear a failure and are not ready to deal with it, you stop taking risks and when you stop taking risks, you do not get results and end stagnation.
Bottom Line – Being a leader is not easy. Being aware of and being prepared to cope with your hurdles to succeed is necessary. So what obstacles do you need to overcome to succeed as a leader?
